Wound Awareness Week August 23-29

Nearly half a million Australians suffer from chronic wounds each year, with most of those caused by pressure injuries. Minor wounds, such as cuts and scrapes, will usually heal on their own with good wound hygiene and attention. It is the chronic wounds that resist treatment and are slow to heal that pose the greatest risk.
They may be the result of surgical incisions, or wounds that occur from accidents and injuries, through to the wounds that are complications of diseases and conditions, often resulting as chronic wounds. These include diabetic wounds and venous ulcers, or wounds of frailty and decreased mobility, commonly referred to as pressure injuries.

Chronic wounds can of course heal with the right treatment from a health professional, but can be managed and even prevented by using a variety of products from the skin protection range of products available at Vital Living.

DermaSaver products protect fragile skin from sustaining damage caused by friction, rubbing, abrasion and and pressure that could lead to skin breakdowns, tears and splits. They can also help to heal existing skin tears, splits and lacerations without the restriction of bandages and dressings. Waterproof protectors can keep your device or dressing from getting damp, and can help ensure that wound recovery is as straightforward and painless as possible.
